The Tillsonburg & District Racing Pigeon Club held their annual Peterborough Young Bird Charity Race August 10, 1996. This year the club was able to present a cheque for $800 to the Tillsonburg Kiwanas Sport Club. The money will be used for training and developing local athletes with disabilities.
The Tillsonburg club challenges other clubs to raise money for a charity in their area. This type of activity puts a positive face on our hobby. This effort was not all work. The club had disabled persons present on basketing night and at clock knockoff. The club members had a great time explaining our hobby to the disabled kids and their parents. The video MARATHON IN THE SKY was loaned to anyone who wanted to see it. It was well used and many good comments were received.
